Your Word Tutor
Rachel Gabriel
Rachel is an award winning writer and teaching artist who offers personalized writing lessons for all ages and abilities. Similar in approach to music lessons, Your Word Tutor writing lessons are scheduled on consecutive weeks at a designated time. Each student receives one-on-one instruction according to their specific writing challenges and aspirations.
Lessons are on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons between 1:00-7:00p.m. They are affordably priced at $45 for thirty minutes and $90 for an hour, and sold in packages of four. Students who prefer a specific day and time are encouraged to schedule more than four lessons at a time.
A growth mindset is central to Ms. Gabriel’s educational approach. She believes in everyone’s potential to improve as a writer, reader, and thinker through the process of writing. For over twenty years, she has helped people discover how to write with clarity and authenticity by learning the art of revision.
Ms. Gabriel has experience working with diverse populations of students, including neurodiverse thinkers, English Language Learners, and reluctant readers and writers. All of us use words to express information, ideas, and creativity each and everyday. Improving our literacy skills is an investment in ourselves and in our collective ability to communicate! Whether you’re finishing a manuscript . . . overwhelmed by a school assignment . . . or reluctant to read and write, contact Rachel.
Ms. Gabriel is a multi-disciplinary artist in word, image, and song. She has several projects in the works to share with the community, including a word art installation in celebration of National Poetry Month. Visit the Center for the Performing Arts building during the month of April and see if you can match the American poet with one of their poems!
